Well...he did it!

From Terry about Hugh's abseiling exploit.

The climbing guys were very careful getting him over the parapet at the top of the tower, and made sure he was secure before they started belaying him down. He got huge applause…the whole village turns out for the festival events, and we had 6 of the family there to cheer as well. He raised over £1,600 in sponsorship which absolutely amazed us.

The weather couldn’t have been better, sunny with only a very gentle breeze. I never knew that Hugh had God on his side, but maybe the vicar and the bishop who were both also abseiling had been praying for calm weather.

He says: “Hugh would like to thank everyone who sponsored him for their generous contribution and good wishes. He assures us that he won’t be doing it again!”
